Proud To Be A Board Certified Miami Orthodontist
Dr. Garcia at Miami Orthodontic Specialists is a board certified orthodontist, which means she is committed to delivering the highest quality care to all of her patients.
Are all Orthodontists Board Certified?
No. All orthodontists must have a license to practice, but only 33% of orthodontists have achieved certification by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). To find out more information go to www.americanboardortho.com.
What is Required for Board Certification?
The board certification exam consists of two major tests. First, a candidate must demonstrate an understanding of modern orthodontic concepts and research by passing a comprehensive written examination. In the second phase, the candidate must prove their clinical abilities by presenting the cases of several patients from their own practice. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and are discussed at length during an intensive oral examination that tests the applicant’s understanding of both academic and clinical topics in orthodontics.
Board certification is not mandatory and demands an extraordinary amount of time and effort to achieve. To become certified by the ABO, an orthodontist needs to demonstrate the highest levels of both knowledge and clinical skills. An orthodontist who achieves board certification has demonstrated their desire to remain current with advances in the field and a commitment to providing care of the highest caliber.
